TRENTON - Karol Nawarynski, 62, passed away suddenly on Feb. 3, 2013. Karol was born in Allentown, PA to parents John and Jennie (Goral) Nawarynski. He lived in Lawrenceville, NJ, for most of his life, and was currently residing in Trenton, NJ. Karol graduated cum laude from Alliance College with a B.A. in Polish Studies. During that time, he spent his junior year at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland. Since 1986, Karol worked for the State of New Jersey in the Department of Treasury, Division of Taxation, as a Tax Investigator. A patriotic man, he retired from the Army Reserve in Fort Dix, NJ, as a master sergeant. He also spent 22 years working with his extended family at Varsity Pizza in Lawrenceville, NJ. |
Karol was affiliated with countless groups including the Polish Arts Club of Trenton, Polish American Historical Association, Kosciusko Foundation, American Council for Polish Culture, Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America, Alliance College Alumni Association, NJ Symphony Orchestra, Trenton Symphony Association, National Trust for Historic Preservation, and the Knight of Columbus. Karol had a zest for life and enjoyed every second of every day. He loved traveling and promoting Polish culture. He also embraced many different cultures and ethnicities, including a deep passion for music and dancing. As a member of his college's Kujawiaki dance troupe he performed across the United States. In recent years, he could be found dancing at Brave Combo concerts with friends and family. Karol regularly marched in the Pulaski Day parade in Philadelphia, PA. He was named President of the Polish Arts Club of Trenton twice and was their honoree at their yearly Polonaise Ball in 2008. Whatever he did, it was done with a passion. He was a most loving husband, father, brother, uncle and friend. The world has lost an amazing man. Karol is survived by his wife of 40 years, Mary Ann; son, Gregory; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Tom Micholas; granddaughters, Lauren and Juliana Micholas; brother, John and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. at the Winowicz Funeral Chapel, 865 Brunswick Avenue, with the Rev. Frederick Mechowski, Pastor Emeritus, Polish National Church, Catholic Church of Our Saviour, officiating. Interment will be private for the family. Calling hours will be on Friday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. and again on Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., both at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, and with respect to Karol's belief in education, a scholarship fund is being established in his name.
